The Gather

There are two methods or styles of gather.

#1	The "DIP" or "COAT" - where the rod is plunged below the surface of the glass, turned and withdrawn.  Simply put, you are coating the surface of the rod or previous gather.
#2	The "Collective Gather".  This is where you want to gather as much glass as possible.  The rod is plunged into the glass and turned slowly at first.  You want to drive the pipe forward as you begin to increase your speed of turn.  Keep pushing forward, bringing the pipe upwards to "collect" as much glass as you can.
